Heritage Advisor

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Heritage Advisor to join our team and contribute to the effective implementation of our Aboriginal cultural heritage and Native Title Agreement commitments across our Australian operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our cultural heritage surveys and data management are executed in accordance with industry standards, agreements, and legislation. They will work collaboratively with Traditional Owner groups to facilitate heritage assessments and survey requests, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

A significant focus of this role will be on building and maintaining trust-based relationships with Traditional Owners, fostering long-term engagement and cooperation. The Heritage Advisor will serve as the senior liaison between our company and Traditional Owners, ensuring Free, Prior and Informed Consent for Company activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support cultural heritage surveys and manage heritage data in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Engage with Traditional Owner groups to facilitate heritage assessments and survey requests.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and Traditional Owners to implement Native Title commitments.
  • Provide strategic advice on cultural heritage management, Traditional Owner engagement, and community development.
  • Foster long-term, trust-based relationships with Traditional Owners.
  • Serve as the senior liaison for day-to-day interactions between the Company and Traditional Owners.
  • Ensure Free, Prior and Informed Consent for Company activities.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years in community development, cultural heritage, or stakeholder engagement, preferably within the resources sector.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive relationships in complex and challenging environments, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities.
  • Strong complex problem-solving skills to deliver solutions across the business.
  • Discretion and respect working in culturally diverse settings.
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines.
