Waste and Sustainability Expert

The Waste and Sustainability Expert will play a crucial role in driving operational efficiency and sustainability outcomes across council buildings. Key responsibilities include identifying improvement opportunities, implementing recycling initiatives, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve waste goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage day-to-day waste operation activities and requests effectively.
  • Oversee waste contract management, including waste audits and Service Level Management tracking.
  • Respond to stakeholder requests through effective engagement and problem-solving skills.

Reporting:

  • Assist in accurate and timely reporting on waste operation targets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within and across divisions to gather necessary data for reporting purposes.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify process improvement opportunities within waste services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency in processes.

Recycling Initiatives:

  • Implement recycling initiatives that align with operational targets and improve overall sustainability outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote and drive participation in recycling programs.

Requirements

Skill and Qualification

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.

- Demonstrated stakeholder management experience.

- Strong focus on sustainability and a passion for driving positive environmental outcomes.

- A degree in a related field or a few years of experience in a similar role.

- Creative thinking and the ability to think independently.
