Procurement Strategist

The role of a Procurement Strategist is to develop and lead the strategy, operating framework, and team to deliver a centralised and integrated procurement function.

This strategic position will create our procurement strategy around a new centralised procurement function, perfect for someone who likes to get hands on and delve deep into creating an integrated function across the group.

This role is based in Sydney ideally, however this role can also be located in Melbourne or Brisbane.

  • Implement a strategic sourcing and procurement system across the whole Group to support a fast growing and evolving business.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage contract negotiations to secure favourable terms.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
  • Oversee the vendor management system, ensuring Group accessibility and efficient information sharing.
  • Optimise supplier setup processes, purchase order management, and payment approaches in collaboration with Finance Control.
  • Implement robust supplier due diligence and reporting processes to support sustainability targets.
  • Develop automated reporting frameworks and tools to streamline analysis and reporting processes.
  • Track and report on the optimisation of the benefits being delivered using data visualisation tools, and dashboard reporting.
  • Establish strong governance and control frameworks for procurement and vendor management processes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities and supplier relationships.
  • Lead a team providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Manage resource allocation and prioritise projects based on strategic priorities and business needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field and experience within financial services, SaaS industries or a related field is highly preferable.
  • Extensive leadership experience in strategic sourcing, procurement management or a related field in a complex, matrix style organisation.
  • Solid understanding of risk governance principles, strategic sourcing practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Rigorous understanding of IT ecosystems, supplier landscapes and their operation.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
