We are seeking an experienced and motivated Agricultural Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and committed to supporting high-quality agricultural education.
About the RoleThe Agricultural Assistant will play a key role in supporting our school's agricultural programs by ensuring the effective and efficient management of agricultural systems and resources. You will be responsible for maintaining our agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery, and equipment to ensure they remain safe, functional, and secure. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that engage students in real-world agricultural practices.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you should possess a foundational understanding of agricultural practices and demonstrate basic skills relevant to the field. You should be confident working independently, with strong time management skills to meet daily tasks and responsibilities without close supervision. Your enthusiasm for the role should be evident in your proactive approach and eagerness to learn. Strong communication skills are essential, allowing you to convey information clearly and collaborate effectively when needed.
Responsibilities- Maintain all agricultural field sites, including fencing, and carry out crop and soil improvement activities.
- Operate and maintain various agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Care for crops and market gardens, including regular physical maintenance.
- Perform animal husbandry duties.
- Assist the Agriculture Teacher with practical classes and activities.
- Current Working with Children Clearance.
- Basic agricultural skills.
- Commitment to inclusive recruitment and supporting students with diverse needs.
This is a full-time position at the OO2 progression level with eligibility for progression to OO3 once specified criteria are met. The salary rate reflects the OO2 to OO3 classification.
Additional InformationApplications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the organization. When working in regulated employment, a current Working with Children Clearance is required.
