Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Airport Services Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our airport services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining Emirates' image, reputation, and customer service levels by ensuring that all procedures, standards, and instructions are followed.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy Implementation

The Airport Services Manager will implement and review strategies to ensure that EK airport staff adhere to procedures, standards, and instructions set by Airport Services Procedures.

Ground Handling Performance

The successful candidate will achieve Ground Handling performance targets, including flight punctuality, check-in standards, and baggage delivery times, to maintain EK's competitiveness.

Safety and Security

The Airport Services Manager will ensure adequate measures are implemented to protect the safety and security of the operation, including aircraft, passengers, cargo, baggage, and staff.

Leadership and Development

The successful candidate will lead, guide, and develop staff to maintain a disciplined, motivated workforce and adherence to passenger service and operational standards.

Administrative Duties

The Airport Services Manager will perform administrative duties accurately and timely, including Monthly Reports, Performance Appraisals, Baggage Claim settlements, invoice verification, general correspondence, and complaint investigation.

Procedure Development

The successful candidate will prepare and constantly review local procedures or Diversion/Delay Handling/Disruptions and Emergency Procedures for reference by EK staff and Handling Agents.

Staff Competency

The Airport Services Manager will check on an ongoing basis the competency of both EK and Handling Agent staff in all areas, particularly Load Control where certification/licences are required.

Representation

The successful candidate will represent EK at official forums, such as AOC meetings, AOC sub-committees, and Working Group meetings, and liaise with government organizations, such as Customs, Immigration, AFP, CASA.

Relationship Building

The Airport Services Manager will develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal/external departments, Airport authorities, GHAs, and other service providers to achieve the required end results for Emirates.

Budgeting and Reporting

The successful candidate will be accountable for annual budgeting of revenue, expenses, and capital expenditure, providing a cost-efficient service that best represents value for money.

Emergency Planning

The Airport Services Manager will be accountable for Emergency Planning, maintaining the localized station ERP, training, exercising, and lobbying for change or awareness amongst the airport community or internal stakeholders.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

The successful candidate will provide required support for Drug and Alcohol testing process when the external provider carries out random testing.

Audit and Quality Control

The Airport Services Manager will conduct regular audits on Ground Handling agencies to ensure the defined scope of regulation aspects of the role is maintained and report any findings that are not in line with the company standard.

Requirements
  • Education

Degree level education.

Qualifications

Advanced level qualifications in Passenger Services, Ground Operations, Baggage Claims, Reservations & Ticketing, and Weight and Balance.

Experience

Significant experience in Airport Passenger handling/Operations, with a considerable portion held at a managerial level.

Certifications

Proficient in the use of various computerized systems e.g. DCS, Reservations, Baggage Tracing, and various software packages used by the Company.

Licensing

Must be able to work under pressure in an environment which requires a very high degree of initiative.

Working Conditions

The jobholder is responsible for adhering to the relevant health and safety requirements and safe working practices applicable to their employment.

The jobholder is a senior member of the EKAS AU management team, and as such, must be flexible in respect of work, timings (24hour call-out responsibility) and functions, and be prepared to work long and extended hours where necessary in times of disruption.
