Our Employment & Labour practice group is highly regarded in Australia, and our services are in high demand. This has created an opportunity for an Associate to join the Melbourne team, working with Partners and .
This role offers the chance to be involved in complex employment and WHS matters, working across the public and private sectors. The key responsibilities and requirements are as follows:
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on WHS and employment legal compliance
- Represent employers in defence of WHS prosecutions and internal/external review of enforcement notices
- Advise and represent employers in regulatory investigations
- Act in unfair dismissal, discrimination, and general protections claims
- Advise on industrial relations matters, including right of entry, disputes, enterprise bargaining, and industrial action
- Act in post-employment confidentiality and restraint of trade disputes
- Manage employee disciplinary and performance issues, ill/injured workers, psychosocial health risks, workplace bullying, and sexual harassment matters
- Assist with organisational restructures, commercial transactions, and transfer of business issues
- Collaborate with national/global teams on cross-border matters and project delivery
- Conduct business development and marketing initiatives, including client training and tender documents
Requirements
- years PQE in a reputable employment law practice
- Experience in contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- WHS experience or willingness to work in this area
- Confidence in dealing directly with clients and collaborating across the NRFA network
- Excellent written, drafting, and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
