Kennedys is seeking a highly skilled Senior Employment Lawyer to join our well-established employment team based in either Sydney or Melbourne.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with a highly regarded Employment Partner to handle a diverse range of industrial relations, health and safety, discrimination, and employment law matters. This will include both litigation and advisory services, as well as EPL work for our clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented lawyer to take on a leadership role, build a practice, and gain exposure to our existing client base. You will also have the chance to lead on webinars and other business development activities, leveraging our global reputation in the legal market.

Our Melbourne Employment partner, Chris Molnar, has over 25 years of experience and is one of only a few practitioners to be accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a specialist in workplace relations. You will receive expert guidance and mentorship from Chris and our wider team of Associates and Paralegals.

Our clients include global and national insurers and underwriters, SMEs, health sector agencies, private clients, and public-owned entities. You will work on a range of cases, including Fair Work Commission, health and safety prosecutions, discrimination, wrongful dismissal, EO, and human rights.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 8 years + PQE experience with a strong background in workplace relations
  • A solid knowledge and understanding of Australian employment law
  • Experience and knowledge of Fair Work Commission and Federal Court processes and procedures
  • Non-contentious employment experience
  • Ability to run your own caseload
  • Leadership abilities and a natural flair for building relationships
