We are seeking a compassionate Animal Care Assistant to join our team in Sydney. This is an ongoing casual position, ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of animals.

About the Role:
  • As an Animal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care to impounded animals, ensuring their health and well-being at all times.
  • You will work closely with our experienced team to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kennels, catteries, and surrounding areas.
  • Your daily tasks will include feeding and watering animals according to strict schedules, monitoring their health, and reporting any concerns to the Animal Welfare Officer.
  • In addition, you will administer basic oral medications as instructed and assist customers with identifying animals in the kennel/cattery area, providing excellent customer service.
  • The successful candidate will also undertake daily checks of kennels, catteries, self-watering devices, and microchip companion animals, promoting responsible pet ownership.
  • Assisting in health checks, vaccinations, medication, and worming of impounded animals is also a key part of this role.
Requirements:
  • Certificate II In Animal Studies or equivalent qualification is essential.
  • Prior experience handling animals in a similar role is highly desirable, particularly in a re homing centre or shelter.
  • A current Class C Driving Licence is required for transporting animals.
  • A current First Aid Certificate is also necessary to ensure effective response in emergencies.
  • Three COVID vaccinations are mandatory to protect yourself and others from transmission.
