Senior Emotion Scientist

Are you a seasoned scientist with expertise in affective computing, computational neuroscience, or biomedical engineering? Do you have experience in designing and executing controlled experiments with physiological ground truth?

We are seeking a skilled Senior Emotion Scientist to lead the design, validation, and productization of scientifically-defensible emotion metrics from multimodal wearables and sensors. You will bridge neuroscience, clinical research, and production ML to deliver validated, regulatory-ready outputs for research, clinical, and B2B deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design hypothesis, experimental leadership, and study protocols
  • Prepare pre-registered analysis plans and statistical analysis plans
  • Develop and evaluate models from classical to sequence/probabilistic models
  • Implement LOO/LOTO and nested CV protocols; report per-subgroup metrics
  • Execute validation matrix aligning datasets and implement domain adaptation/cross-device calibration


Required Skills:

  • PhD (preferred) or MSc + significant relevant experience in Affective Computing, Computational Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Statistics, or Applied ML
  • Hands-on expertise with PPG sensors and time-series signal processing
  • Proven experience designing and executing controlled experiments with physiological ground truth
  • Strong statistical skills including mixed models, power analysis, and equivalence testing
  • Production ML skills: Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, XGBoost, containerisation, model versioning, and CI/CD basics
