Job Description

This role requires a team-oriented and flexible individual who is eager to learn and assist their peers. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, both oral and written, and demonstrate a strong interest in electronic repair troubleshooting methodology. The ability to work on a range of activities and undertake domestic travel from time to time is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Field Service Engineers in meeting daily service repair needs and driving customer satisfaction
  • Assist Field Service Engineers with repairs and maintains equipment in the field, also assists with equipment installation
  • Document all inspections, maintenance, repair work and submits paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Order, install, and return parts and manages repair parts cycle time
  • Assist Field Service Engineers with ensuring that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated
  • Assist Field Service Engineers in assessing product/equipment performance based on field support data
  • Participate in site surveys, pilot program service activities, attend meetings, and assist in preparing exclusive reports
  • Maintain professional communication proficiency, both oral and written
  • Establish and maintain a close relationship with Field Service Engineers in order to continuously learn and support the needs of the customer
  • Exercise every available measure to control and minimize costs – Overtime control, flights and travel expenditures, tools and consumables procurement where applicable
  • Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies
  • Perform tasks independently once assessed as competent and safe to do so
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual who is enrolled in a Certificate III in Electrical Machine Repair or an equivalent course aligned to Smiths Detection Australia's service organisation. No experience is required, but some previous formal paid or voluntary work experience is desirable. The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills, a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork, and be willing and able to travel at short notice. A clean driver's license and ability to acquire relevant security clearance and industry-related licenses are also essential.
