About the Role

The Major Infrastructure Projects directorate is responsible for delivering major new or upgraded dock, berth, and building infrastructure projects to support ship and submarine sustainment programmes. As a Principal Architect, you will work with multi-discipline infrastructure system designs to provide an overall sustainment capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management of the Architectural elements of the Dock Facility upgrade, ensuring designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses.
  • Providing Subject Matter Expert advice for Architecture.
  • Providing Technical design guidance and reviewing integration of Architectural designs with other design packages.
  • Ensuring that design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Planning for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and effectively contributing to the project's technical planning process.
  • Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with the client's Business Management System and Technical Manual.
  • Ensuring that processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality control applied.
  • Ensuring that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the consultant team through effective management and communication.
Requirements
  • Highly complex building experience in the nuclear sector (desirable)
  • Complex building experience in heavily regulated environments (essential)
  • Major Civil Infrastructure projects in the marine environment.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
  • Preferred Chartered Architect, registered with RIBA
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance.
