Navy Command - Assistant Head of Security Operations

The primary role of this position is to plan and implement effective security systems and response, ensuring the protection of personnel, material, assets, and facilities from hostile activity. This involves working closely with site security forces and providing assurance to the Head of Establishment that HMNB Devonport is compliant with security policy requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing security risk management processes to address non-compliance with policy
  • Leading the development and embedding of a workstream to ensure appropriate and proportionate security effect
  • Communicating and problem-solving across the complex site, engaging with military, MOD civilian, and contractor stakeholders
  • Monitoring and guiding the activities of the onsite Industry Partner (Babcock) responsible for security guarding, infrastructure, and site access permissions
  • Working closely with other Industry Partners to enable a coherent security culture programme and develop trusted links

The successful candidate will be a confident and capable communicator, able to brief autonomously to MOD senior levels and engage with stakeholders to deliver national security objectives. Regular travel across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise/UK is required, with common destinations including Bristol, London, Clyde, and Portsmouth.
