ISSA is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join their team as a Deckhand.

The role of the Deckhand is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. This includes assisting the Master and Engineer in maintaining the highest level of client comfort while adhering to safety protocols.

This position requires flexibility with shift times, including working outside of normal hours. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the vessel is essential for this role. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Manager and Scheduler to achieve optimal results.

This is a key role within the organization, requiring leadership, energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, multi-skilling, and time management skills.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist Master in navigating the vessel in adverse conditions.
  • Participate in Bridge Management and lookout duties as prescribed by the Master.
  • Undertake critical roles in vessel emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Inspect safety equipment and report any deficiencies to the Master.
  • Participate in safety drills and meet legislative requirements.
  • Manage deck activities during preparation for departure and mooring at the end of the shift.
  • Assist Master in safe embarkation/disembarkation of personnel and clients.
  • Maintain/requisition mooring lines as required.
  • Assist Master in maintaining decks and exterior of the vessel.
  • Collaborate with Master and/or Engineer as required.
  • Clean the entire vessel before, during, and at the completion of each shift.

**Essential Qualifications:**

  • Elements of shipboard safety or equivalent.
  • Senior First Aid and CPR.
  • Recreational Boat Licence.
  • Driver's license.
  • Recreational Boat Licence or higher (e.g. Coxswain or Master 5).

**Desirable Qualifications:**

  • Confined Space.
  • Working Safely at Heights.
  • MSIC.
  • Experience in the Transport Industry.
