Job Overview:

About the Job:

  • Ensure that safety policies are compliant with requirements.
  • Provide advice to leaders to support safety outcomes.
  • Liaison with customer safety groups to provide critical safety information relating to safety outcomes.
  • Support safety review boards to ensure the effectiveness of the safety management system.
  • Develop and support the safety council to review risks and issues facing aviation operations.
  • Represent the company at interested party safety boards, as required.
  • Communicate and report information regarding aviation risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Support the development of safety objectives and targets, and risk management processes through collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodical or event-based risk reviews to supplement existing reviews and ensure the intent of the safety management system is carried over to each part of the business.
  • Identify and analyse trends in safety performance to enable the development of risk management strategies and support verification of control effectiveness.
  • Provide support to investigations in a lead investigator or support role.
  • Support just culture reviews at the program level, as appropriate.
  • Support the establishment and continuation of safety training throughout the business.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Military or civilian aircrew experience.
  • Experience within Defence aviation operations in a high tempo environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence Aviation Safety Regulations and an advanced understanding of safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced knowledge of aviation risk management strategies and frameworks.
  • Expertise in managing safety management systems in a complex organisation.
