
Healthcare Professional for Aboriginal Communities

We seek a motivated and experienced Aboriginal health professional to work with us in ensuring access to palliative and end-of-life support for Aboriginal people.
About the RoleThe Aboriginal health professional will be responsible for providing non-clinical services, including cultural and medical advocacy, and promoting respectful and culturally appropriate palliative and end-of-life care for Aboriginal people.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide cultural and medical advocacy for Aboriginal patients and their families
- Develop and implement culturally safe environments for Aboriginal patients and their families
- Collaborate with clinicians, community-based service providers, patients, and families to promote respectful and culturally appropriate palliative and end-of-life-care
- Lead the development of programs and services to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people
- Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander position; applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage and identify as an Aboriginal person
- Relevant qualifications in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Care, including Certificate IV in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Care and/or relevant experience
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people in relation to illness, grief, and loss, and Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing
- Effective interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and personal resilience, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across a range of health and community settings
