About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated professional to fill a vital position within our institution, providing essential support to facilitate cultural awareness in Aboriginal research and academia.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment with a strong emphasis on Aboriginal health, aligning with our institution's mission to provide high-quality education.
- Support cultural orientation and safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to high standards of behaviour and knowledge, thereby fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in teaching activities, providing mentorship and guidance to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, promoting cross-cultural understanding and respect.
- Provide cultural awareness and training to all staff, enhancing their ability to work effectively in diverse settings.
- Engage in research activities, either independently or as a leader, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Aboriginal health.

- Strong understanding of the health issues facing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, including other social factors, enabling effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Experience in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community engagement, recognising the challenges often faced in sensitive and complex cultural situations, and developing strategies to overcome these obstacles.
- Proven high-level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching, consistently receiving positive feedback from students and peers.
- A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and experience in curriculum development and/or unit/course coordination, showcasing expertise in curriculum design and implementation.
- A record of research outputs/creative works in high-quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline and the level of appointment, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Evidence of an established reputation and growing profile, along with a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships, highlighting capacity for securing funding and resources.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff, and supervise students, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment, and interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity, building strong relationships and partnerships.
