
Building and Development Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Development Compliance Officer to provide technical advice and undertake investigations into various building and development compliance matters.
You will issue statutory approvals, resolve customer issues, and contribute to the development of compliance processes and procedures.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Technical Advice: Providing guidance on swimming pool fencing and safety regulation, sediment and erosion control, land clearing, and other building and development compliance matters.
- Statutory Approvals: Issuing approvals and resolving escalated customer and procedural issues.
- Process Development: Contributing to the development of building and development compliance processes and procedures.
- Reporting: Preparing high-quality technical reports, procedures, and correspondence.
- Site Inspections: Undertaking site inspections and investigations to support the resolution of building and development compliance issues.
You will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including local government representatives, developers, and community groups.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience in delivering building and development compliance services, preferably in local government.
- Knowledge of investigation and compliance principles and practices related to building and development matters.
- Understanding of planning, building, and development legislation in Queensland, including State Planning Policy and the SEQ Regional Plan.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, consultative, negotiation, and mediation skills.
- Ability to formulate high-level written reports and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements:
- Diploma in Planning, Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Diploma in (Government) Investigation or equivalent.
- Diploma of Science, Agriculture or equivalent.
- General Induction Licence (White Card).
- Current C class driver's licence.
