Job Title: Associate Director, Payments Product Owner

Join Westpac Group as an Associate Director, Payments Product Owner and play a key role in shaping the future of our payments ecosystem.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced product owner to lead the development of our payments simplification and consolidation initiatives. As a key member of our Global Transaction Services team, you will be responsible for defining the product roadmap, working closely with stakeholders, and driving the delivery of our payments strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver payment solutions, including payment initiation and pre-processing
  • Lead the requirements squad team to document the Agile backlog and refine the solution design
  • Manage the product backlog, including supporting backlog prioritization, program increment, and sprint planning
  • Work with delivery teams to lead the build and implementation of target solutions against a challenging release schedule
  • Support defining and delivering test requirements and strategy, including non-functional requirements
  • Understand the impacts of changes to applicable legislation, regulatory, and payment scheme frameworks, and ensure the target design meets the requirements of Compliance and Risk
  • Rigorously identify and diligently manage operational risks, incidents, issues, and controls
  • Be the expert within the payments domain in relation to competitors, new emerging products & services, leading thinking on customer needs-led product management, industry knowledge, emerging market trends locally and globally, and general market conditions

Requirements
  • Experience as a product owner with significant experience with Payment Rails, including NPP or equivalent real-time rails
  • Knowledge of Payment Channels, including payment initiation and pre-processing
  • Experience and interest in the payments domain
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and project knowledge
