Strategic Rail Planning Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Rail Planning Lead to join our team in Brisbane, Queensland. As a key member of our Rail business, you will be responsible for leading strategic rail planning projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders to identify and shape opportunities, and developing action plans to win work.
About the Role:- Lead a team delivering strategic rail planning projects, mostly for the QLD market.
- Lead integrated multi-disciplinary project teams, including technical rail operations and planning, engineering advisory, transport demand modelling, and broader transport planning and economics.
- Engage regularly with clients and stakeholders to identify and shape opportunities related to strategic rail planning, and develop action plans to win work.
- Lead bids for public and private clients, mostly in QLD.
- Guide the performance of the team to meet client outcomes, deliver tangible benefits, and maintain profitability.
- Interface closely with our QLD advisory, planning, and mobility teams to identify wider collaboration opportunities to support our rail and transport clients.
- Support and mentor staff to undertake development activities helping them realise their potential.
- Lead and foster a good safety culture to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff.
- Contribute to reach the targets of WSP's national Strategic Rail Planning Strategy, from a QLD perspective.
- Support commercial and operational performance metrics.
- Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent.
- Masters' Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' relevant post-graduate experience.
- Broad experience in leading rail planning projects, especially at the strategic level to help public and private clients shape their future networks.
- Deep knowledge and experience in business case development process in Australia, especially in Queensland.
- Well-connected to rail professionals in Queensland, especially with decision-makers from governmental organisations.
- Ability and willingness to bring new businesses to the company, by maintaining and developing a professional network in Queensland, as well as preparing outstanding bids for clients.
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines in a dynamic environment.
