Pathology Collector Job Description

The role of a pathology collector is crucial in ensuring efficient and accurate diagnostic processes in the medical field. As a dedicated professional, you will oversee daily operations of pathology collection, including specimen collection and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Oversight of patient interactions to ensure high standards of care, addressing patient concerns and feedback to enhance overall patient experience.
  • Proper handling, labeling, and transportation of specimens, maintaining chain of custody and proper documentation.
  • Adherence to all safety and infection control procedures, including correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with universal precautions.
  • Collaboration with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and improve departmental efficiency.
  • Accurate record-keeping and confidentiality.
  • Leading ongoing training and professional development initiatives for the pathology team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in a medical or laboratory setting, with background in pathology.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen handling, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
