Disability Support Worker

The role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including residential and community-based environments.

The responsibilities of this role include assisting with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and domestic duties. Additionally, you will be responsible for accompanying clients on outings and activities, promoting their independence and well-being.

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You must also be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

A key aspect of this role is your ability to work effectively with individuals who have varying levels of disability, including physical, intellectual, and sensory impairments. You will need to be flexible, patient, and adaptable in your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

Furthermore, you will be required to maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner. This includes recording client progress, documenting incidents or accidents, and submitting regular reports to management.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will also be expected to participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as manual handling, first aid, and behavior support.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid NSW driver's license (preferred)
  • First aid and CPR certification (essential)

  • Disability Cert III (desired)
