About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled Workplace Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team at Beacon Legal. The successful candidate will have a strong background in workplace safety and compliance and be able to provide expert guidance on workplace relations matters.

You will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions to meet those needs. You will also be responsible for managing high-risk and complex workplace issues, including whistleblower disclosures, workplace investigations, and discrimination or harassment claims.

  • Provide strategic legal advice on employee relations, industrial relations, and safety matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Partner closely with clients to manage workplace risks, regulatory compliance, and best-practice people strategies.
  • Manage high-risk and complex workplace issues, including whistleblower disclosures, workplace investigations, and discrimination or harassment claims.
  • Support industrial relations matters, including enterprise agreement negotiations, wage compliance projects, and the organisation's broader industrial relations strategy.
  • Oversee legal aspects of strategic change initiatives, including organisational restructures, M&A projects, and transformation projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and legal documents.
  • Manage litigious matters including unfair dismissal claims, general protections claims, industrial disputation, and contractor/employee disputes.
  • Support the promotion and development of a physically and mentally healthy and safe workplace, including assisting with the investigation, reporting and resolution of safety incidents and providing practical advice to the Safety team.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external counsel, ensuring the company is well-represented in matters involving tribunals and workplace regulators.
  • Contribute to internal training and policy development, educating managers and other employees on key legal risks and best practices.
  • Lead and develop a Legal Counsel – Workplace Relations, providing mentorship and professional support.
  • Collaborate across jurisdictions and share learnings, including on global working groups.
  • Actively contribute to Legal team initiatives, including annual business planning, budgeting, and innovative legal service delivery.
