About Lurnea High School

Lurnea High School is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school situated in the city of Liverpool. The institution serves a diverse community of learners with 84% of students possessing a Language Background Other Than English and 75% requiring EAL/D support, as well as 28 students who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The school boasts a Support Unit for students with mild, moderate intellectual delays and autism and an Intensive English Centre catering to the English language learning needs of newly arrived migrant and refugee students.

The position of teacher-librarian is central to the overall school community, serving as a teaching and learning space and resource, as well as a platform to share and celebrate all aspects of cultural and academic achievements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement creative and adaptable approaches to teaching and learning, differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities, needs and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Manage a dynamic library space, with knowledge of library systems and resources, including the selection/inclusion of texts from a diverse cultural and linguistic background.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team and coordinate events and projects.

Requirements:

  • Approval to teach Library or currently undertaking Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
  • An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
