Dynamic Financial Lines Underwriter Role in Sydney

The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the achievement of business goals for profit, growth, service, and producer relations across all classes of business.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting Process / Analysis

  • Determine the acceptability of new lines and renewals within established guidelines and delegated authority.
  • Utilize appropriate endorsements and apply adequate pricing structures.
  • Maintain awareness of claim activity with assigned books and communicate with adjusters as needed.
  • Monitor underwriting results and premium and loss trends.
  • Oversight of underwriting judgment and authority of less experienced staff members.

Production

  • Analyze and monitor quality, volume, and mix of business for assigned producers.
  • Review performance reports, enforce accounts, and make quality-control recommendations.
  • Visit producers and insureds to communicate department philosophy and increase market share.
  • Increase producers' awareness of appetite, products, and advantages through product presentations.
  • Participate in joint travel with members of other underwriting departments and present to prospective producers when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain travel programs for less experienced staff to develop marketing techniques.

Service

  • Achieve established department service goals by anticipating and responding to producers' needs.
  • Identify and report deficiencies and suggest changes for improvements.
  • Utilize statistical reports to monitor service goals and offer constructive suggestions to less experienced staff members.
