Senior Underwriter for Financial Institutions

Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is seeking a talented underwriter to join our Executive & Professional lines team in Sydney, specializing in Financial Institutions.
We are looking for individuals who possess strong underwriting fundamentals, a passion for learning, and excellent relationship-building skills. The successful candidate will be focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences while maintaining sound underwriting discipline.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage and build upon a book of business that aligns with the team's strategic focus.
- Develop and grow a profitable financial lines business.
- Establish and expand broker and customer relationships.
- Underwrite assigned accounts with thorough analysis and documentation.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make informed decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
- Underwrite complex and challenging risks, developing creative solutions for partners.
- Collaborate with the in-house claims team to deliver a positive and transparent experience for customers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- At least 5 years of Financial lines underwriting experience.
- Strong underwriting fundamentals, with a focus on Financial Institutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial analysis and markets.
- Existing broker and customer relationships, or the ability to develop strong relationships quickly.
- Experience working with specialized brokers is preferred.
- Excellent collaboration and team-building skills.
- Strong communication skills, including negotiation, written communication, and presentation experience.
- Degree or equivalent education, and/or insurance qualifications.
