About the Role

The Capital Delivery Manager - Capital Planning & Delivery is a key position within Vicinity Centres, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of capital projects across the organization. This role will play a critical part in driving business growth and enhancing the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of capital projects, including pre-construction cost estimates, planning and design schematics, construction documentation, permitting procedures, and project scheduling.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with regional and local operational management teams to verify existing conditions, complete feasibility studies, identify applicable CAPEX work scopes, and produce requests for proposals to obtain cost estimates and bids.
  • Design and Technical Plan Review: Review and approve construction drawings, ensuring compliance with owners' responsibilities and tenant lease requirements. Collaborate with tenants when owners' work affects existing tenants.
  • System Understanding: Develop an understanding of mall systems, existing and proposed, and the lifecycle for replacement, including electrical infrastructure, HVAC systems, vertical transportation, fire life safety, and data backbones.
  • Permit Submissions: Efficiently track and manage the scheduling of CAPEX project planning and permit submissions to all applicable local jurisdictional agencies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal design management groups to prepare design briefs to align with budgeted CAPEX and centre transformational projects. Visit shopping centres regularly to monitor progress and promote methods to expedite the construction process.
  • Construction Administration: Supervise the schedule of construction to ensure completion on or before the agreed contract schedule. Conduct field inspections and meetings with architects, contractors, and building inspectors, as necessary.
  • Closing Out: Ensure compliance of all close-out documentation in accordance with contract terms.
Requirements
  • Experience: An experienced project manager, construction manager, or equivalent with demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety building infrastructure systems.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in construction management or equivalent will be highly regarded.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, analysis, solution, and change management capability. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, project scheduling applications, and project budgeting software.
