Job Title: Spiritual Care Specialist

About the Role:

  • This is a dynamic opportunity to work in a supportive team environment, delivering high-quality spiritual care services to clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients through group-based activities in wellness centers, retirement villages, and home and community centers.
  2. Provide spiritual support and pastoral care services to clients and family members that are person-centered, faith-based, inclusive, and friendly within a trauma-informed care framework and a strength-based approach.
  3. Prepare spiritual celebrations to recognize special days of remembrance that are inclusive of various religious and culturally diverse backgrounds for clients in a group-based setting, where needed.
  4. Provide one-to-one Pastoral Care to clients on a transitional basis, where needed.
  5. Facilitate Pastoral Care volunteers to support clients and build connections with local communities.
  6. Create and provide pastoral care support to residents/clients and their family members when they enter palliative care or end-of-life based on their needs and preferences.

Requirements:

  1. Cert IV or Diploma in Pastoral Care, Counselling, Chaplaincy, or similar qualifications in theology or spirituality.
  2. Strong personal spirituality lived out in the context of a Christian-based community.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, particularly as it relates to Christian Spirituality, dignity of life, and aged care.
  4. Commitment to supporting the pastoral/spiritual care needs of the sick and elderly and their family members.
  5. Previous experience working within aged care or vulnerable community settings.
  6. Able to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents, clients, and their families.
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
