Role Overview

As a Junior Category Buyer, you will develop and execute a category plan that delivers a compelling and profitable merchandise range. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Appliances category.

This role is ideal for a current Junior Buyer or a Buyer in Training looking to take on more responsibility.

  • Develop product strategies for each brand in your portfolio, aligned with Myer's overall strategy.
  • Manage the complete range selection, including marketing, budgeting, price architecture, and sourcing new products and suppliers.
  • Apply strong negotiation skills to achieve optimal trading terms.
  • Understand current business and market trends, identifying key growth areas and opportunities for Myer.
  • Actively research relevant trends and grow, develop, and mentor your team.
Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Experience as a Junior Buyer or Buyer in Training with a solid background in Merchandise Buying.
  • Strong trade marketing and negotiation skills.
  • A passion for products and experience in end-to-end ranging.
  • Ability to interpret in-season trends relevant to Myer.
  • Strong customer focus and professional approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle working in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to make clear, strategic decisions.
  • Team player with a 'can-do attitude'.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
