Job Description

Peritus is seeking a highly skilled Associate Scientist to join our team in a laboratory setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory and administrative tasks to support the running of the laboratory to Good Scientific Practice (GSP) standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily calibration of pH and conductivity meters
  • Provide ongoing laboratory support, including organizing shipments and receiving goods
  • Coordinate the calibration of pipettes and participate in the preventative maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment
  • Sourcing and ordering of laboratory consumables and reagents, and registering them in the Inventory Manager system
  • Ensure calibrations and checks are accurately recorded to meet appropriate scientific and regulatory standards
  • Participate in periodic defrosting of freezers and laboratory clean-ups
  • Comply with safety and GSP regulations, and adhere to global and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other laboratory procedures
  • Complete all allocated training and be flexible and adaptable to changing workplace priorities
  • Maintain laboratory quality systems and collaborate with sample testing as advised by the reporting Scientist
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in a relevant discipline, such as biochemistry or biotechnology
  • Good practical knowledge of the laboratory environment
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Well-organized and able to plan work appropriately
  • Good computer skills with a good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
  • Able to work with other Peritus teams and external providers
