We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team at Microsoft. As a key member of our Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team, you will play a critical role in developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
Key Responsibilities- Business Understanding and Impact: Leverage your expertise to analyze problems and issues facing projects, uncovering factors that can influence final outcomes across product lines. Partner with business teams to drive strategy and recommend improvements.
- Data Preparation and Understanding: Oversee data acquisition efforts, ensuring data is properly formatted and accurately described. Utilize key technologies and tools necessary for data exploration, including SQL and Python. Use querying, visualization, and reporting techniques to explore data, including distribution of key attributes, relationships between attributes, simple aggregations, properties of significant sub-populations, and statistical analyses.
- Modeling and Statistical Analysis: Generalize machine learning solutions into repeatable frameworks for others to use. Exemplify and enforce team standards related to bias, privacy, and ethics. Evaluate the methodology and performance of teammates' models and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Evaluating for Insight and Impact: Conduct thorough reviews of data analysis and techniques used to summarize the process, highlighting areas that have been missed or need reexamining. Utilize results of the assessment and process review to decide on next steps, including deployment, further iterations, or new projects.
- Industry and Research Knowledge/Opportunity Identification: Track advances in industry and academia, identifying relevant state-of-the-art research and adapting algorithms and/or techniques to drive innovation and develop new solutions.
- Coding and Debugging: Independently write efficient, readable, extensible code/models that span multiple features/solutions. Contribute to the code/model review process by providing feedback and suggestions for implementation and improvement.
- Business Management: Define business-strategy goals, customer-strategy goals, and solution-strategy goals. Partner with teams to identify and explore opportunities for the application of machine learning and other data-science tools.
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years data-science experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years data-science experience.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience working as part of geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.
- Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%.
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and collaborate across company boundaries.
- 5+ years customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.
