Sports Turf Apprentice Position Overview

The City of Mandurah is seeking a motivated and eager individual to join our team as a Sports Turf Apprentice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a school leaver or non-school leaver to commence a career in turf management.

About the Role

As a Sports Turf Apprentice, you will work full-time while completing your Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. You will learn from experienced professionals in the field and develop skills in preparing sports fields, mowing and maintaining optimal lawn conditions, setting out and sports field requirements, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, controlling weeds, plant pests, disorders, and diseases, and using chemicals.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of sports fields
* Learn and develop skills in turf management
* Work collaboratively as part of a team
* Develop problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions
* Maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Requirements

* School leavers: OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8
* Non-school leavers: C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or a completion of a Certificate II in a related discipline
* Genuine interest in the preparation of sports fields and the turf trade
* Current unrestricted C class national driver's licence
* Self-motivated and keen to learn
