Scientific Researcher Role

We are seeking an accomplished Scientific Researcher to lead our laboratory operations. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the scientific aspects of standard work processes and ensure high-quality output in our Testing Laboratories.

Duties
  • You will coach and assess employees to enhance their capabilities by sharing your knowledge and experience.
  • Promote ongoing education in immunohaematology and virology to support the growth of our team.
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors to schedule training sessions and optimize laboratory performance.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into process deviations and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Lead investigations where procedure or process failure occurs, implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Review and approve routine screening results within agreed timeframes, ensuring timely delivery of accurate data.
  • Perform daily control checks for Alinity and NEO instruments to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Investigate potential thrombocytopenia cases through microscopic examination, providing critical insights for informed decision-making.
  • Participate in the blood grouping discrepancy incident management team as an immunohaematology scientist, leveraging your expertise to drive resolution.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Biomedical Science with more than 2 years' experience in diagnostic or blood screening laboratories, or a general science degree with more than 5 years' experience in blood screening laboratories.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in immunohaematology or virology, enabling you to make significant contributions to our team's success.
  • A proven track record of building capability in others through effective workplace training and coaching.
  • Strong communication skills, allowing you to adapt your training and coaching to diverse groups across the organization.
