Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Laboratory Support Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide practical research and administrative support for project teams and stakeholders, working closely with postdocs, PhD students, and honours students on multiple funded research projects in the Translational Cancer Metabolism Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control reagent inventory, stock levels, and ordering, as well as coordinate maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Assist with coordinating research activities and provide research support, including making reagents, setting up experiments, cell culture, explants, sample collection, and animal monitoring
  • Work as a team to ensure experiments proceed on time and meet milestones, including time management and prioritization of competing tasks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science with Honours or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training, and laboratory research experience
  • Experience working in a research laboratory, with essential skills in cancer cell/tissue culture, such as plate-based growth assays, and additional skills in related laboratory techniques, including mouse work (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in data entry, cross-referencing against project deliverables to ensure accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, as well as take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands

About the Role:

This role is an integral part of our School of Biomedical Sciences, providing critical support to our research projects and helping us achieve our goals in translational cancer metabolism.
