About the Role

As a seasoned professional, you will join Energy Australia as a Project Director to lead the pre-FID stage of the Hallett Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Your primary focus will be on executing and delivering project milestones with an unwavering commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.

You will be responsible for developing and leading a high-performing project team, building their capability for successful project execution. Establishing effective relationships with key contractors and stakeholders, including senior executives, regulators, government representatives, community groups, and media, is also a critical aspect of this role.

A key expectation is that you will draw upon project services teams to manage and track project progress and expenditure against the planned work program. Furthermore, you will continuously monitor and manage project risks, taking appropriate mitigative actions while ensuring transparent and regular reporting to the Project Steering Committee.

This exciting opportunity appeals to experienced EPCM-style project directors with a genuine passion for contributing to the clean energy transition. To be considered, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with additional qualifications in project management or business.
  • Extensive experience in engineering and construction project development and delivery in the energy sector or a related heavy industrial field. Previous experience in grid connection projects would be ideal.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Previous experience in delivering large development projects underwritten by government contracts and involving external funding.
  • Outstanding commercial acumen and well-developed stakeholder management and relationship development skills.
