Job Overview

The Technical Officer - Emergency Systems plays a crucial role in Marine Rescue NSW, collaborating closely with the IT team and operations to integrate mission-critical systems.

This position supports the development and maintenance of state-wide radio communications and emergency services management systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of state-wide radio communications and emergency services management systems
  • Collaborating with the IT team and operations to integrate mission-critical systems
  • Assisting with vendor relationships and prioritizing competing technical requests

Required skills include hands-on experience with radio communications and IP network systems, as well as a project management style approach to coordinating technical work.

Desirable skills include:

  • Systems administration and managing virtualised environments
  • Experience maintaining virtualisation environments (e.g. VMware)
  • IP network knowledge including NBN, MPLS, LTE and microwave systems

This role is suited for individuals from a radio or communications background with a solid understanding of contemporary data networks and their integration with radio systems.
