Job Opportunity: Handyperson

We are seeking an experienced and skilled handyperson to maintain apartments, common areas, and building exteriors.

About Your New Role:

  • Maintain apartments, common areas, and building exteriors
  • Manage soft facilities requirements of the property
  • Assist with major emergency issues after hours
  • Prioritise maintenance as per operational requirements and to OH&S Standards
  • Meet with Manager to receive new work orders and instructions
  • Provide updates on workloads including completions, delays, or escalations
  • Complete worksheets indicating hours of work conducted in apartments and to common areas
  • General maintenance, lighting checks & replacements, minor painting & plastering repairs, minor carpentry & plumbing repairs throughout the building
  • Monitor, report & manage spare parts stock levels
  • Advise Manager of work to be carried out by external contractor & ensure appropriate approvals are obtained
  • Respond to requests for any urgent repairs or issues required by Staff or management
  • Provide assistance in a professional and efficient manner to residents and visitors
  • Establish good working relations with Staff & Contractors

Requirements:

  • Experience in general property and grounds maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Physical ability to move and relocate soft furnishings around the property
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic OH&S principles and chemical handling
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds

Mandatory Requirements:

  • National Police Check (completed within last 3 months), at your own cost
  • Working with Children Check - there is a no card no start policy in Queensland. This must be obtained at your own cost prior to commencement.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia and New Zealand
  • Valid QLD Drivers Licence with no driving restrictions (required)
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • General property and grounds maintenance and repair experience

  • Ability to work independently and within a team
