Tree Care Specialist Trainee

Care for trees, shape green spaces and develop a lifelong career with our Arboriculture Trainee program.

Become skilled in tree surgery, pruning, rigging, and tree removals while working alongside experienced professionals. This 3-year traineeship provides hands-on experience and on-the-job training to help you grow as a professional.

About the Role

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment, supporting the Open Spaces team and gaining practical skills across three tree crews. You will be based at our Oak Flats Services Depot and have access to ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors.

The traineeship covers theoretical and practical requirements, including a Certificate III in Arboriculture at Yallah TAFE. You will receive approved leave to attend TAFE and have the opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of areas, including:

  • Rigging and knot tying
  • Safe use of operating small plant

This temporary full-time position offers a range of benefits, including:

  • 38 hours per week
  • Salary up to $838 per week
  • 12% superannuation
  • On-the-job training and compulsory course costs paid by Council

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Complete a Pre-placement Medical examination
  • Obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement
Eligibility

This opportunity is open to school leavers, mature age applicants, second year apprentices and/or those who have already commenced their Certificate III in Arboriculture.
