Establish a Cutting-Edge Technology Vision

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the technology direction for the 3 Lines of Assurance (3LOA) Automated Assurance Crew within the Financial Services division at Commonwealth Bank.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to develop and execute a technology roadmap that supports our ambitious vision for assurance automation. As a key member of the Crew, you will design and deliver a strategic assurance engine that can ingest automated control tests and support continuous monitoring/assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Roadmap Development: Design and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the Group's Technology Strategy to drive innovation and excellence in assurance automation.
  • Assurance Automation Platform: Collaborate with product owners, architecture, and engineering teams to develop and deploy an end-to-end assurance automation platform.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of technology professionals within the 3LOA Automated Assurance crew, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Solution Requirements Definition: Work closely with Assurance SMEs to understand and contribute to the definition of solution requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Data Ingestion, Integration, and Security: Partner with experts within Group Technology to address critical aspects such as data ingestion, integration, and security.
  • DevSecOps Delivery Model: Operate solutions delivered to 3LOA within a robust DevSecOps delivery model, ensuring speed, quality, and security.
  • Vendor Selection and Partnerships: Assist with solution vendor selection and partner with vendors to drive positive outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5+ Years of Experience: At least 5 years' experience in a technology engineering discipline, with at least 3 years in automation-related roles and a strong passion for data engineering.
  • Demonstrable Track Record: A proven track record of helping solve business problems with technology, leveraging expertise in data and analytics.
  • Competencies: Strong understanding of data and analytics, with AI competencies being a plus.
  • Assurance Functions Knowledge: Sound understanding of the role of assurance functions and their core processes.
  • Corporate Experience: Direct experience in automating assurance activities within a large corporate environment is highly advantageous.
  • Financial Services Background: Experience in the Financial Services/Banking sector is beneficial but not necessary.

What We Offer

As a Senior Data Engineer at Commonwealth Bank, you will enjoy a competitive salary range of AUD $150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications.
