Customer Service Officer Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Officer. As a key member of our library team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and providing support to patrons at our library branches, outreach locations, and community events.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will also possess a strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and ensuring that users feel supported and engaged.

  • Assist customers in making full use of library resources, equipment, technology, and online services through proactive engagement and support.

In addition to your excellent customer service skills, you will have strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Library and Information Services, Customer Engagement, Business Administration, or a related field, along with public library experience. A proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and meeting performance targets would also be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver high-quality customer service at library branches, outreach locations, and community events.
  2. Assist customers in making full use of library resources, equipment, technology, and online services.
  3. Undertake a range of duties including rostered desk shifts, evenings, and Saturdays across any library branch.
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Library and Information Services, Customer Engagement, Business Administration, or a related field, along with public library experience.
  • Strong accountability, proactivity, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential for success.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and ensuring users feel supported and engaged.
