Job Title: Drill and Blast Team Lead

Job Summary:

The Drill and Blast Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the drill and blast operations on a FIFO 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster.

About the Role:

  • To ensure effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets.
  • To coordinate work-crew responsibilities ensuring employees are aware of changes and are competent to carry out tasks.
  • To monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets.
  2. Communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings.
  3. Coordinate work-crew responsibilities ensuring employees are aware of changes and are competent to carry out tasks.
  4. Monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.
  5. Report any significant deviation from the drilling and blasting plans to the Project Manager in writing on the shift report.
  6. Ensure the transport of blasting materials is in accordance with statutory regulations in a purpose designed vehicle.

Requirements:

  • A demonstrated track record of fostering safety in the workplace.
  • Proven experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams effectively to drive performance outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in open pit mining within a Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium or Iron ore background is highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the team and departments.
