Financial Operations Leader

The role of a Commercial Manager is to develop and execute financial strategies that support sustainable growth. This includes collaborating with senior leaders, building scenarios, identifying opportunities to meet budget objectives, leading the forecasting and budgeting process, tracking financial performance, and driving data-led decision making through clear analysis.
This high-impact position requires a commercially savvy, financially sharp leader who can deliver insights, drive profitability, and guide strategic decision-making across retail and trade business. The ideal candidate should be passionate about blending financial strategy with operational execution and have the ability to play a pivotal role in helping stores thrive.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute financial strategies to support sustainable growth
- Collaborate with senior leaders to build scenarios and identify opportunities to meet budget objectives
- Lead the forecasting and budgeting process with accuracy and insight
- Track financial performance and drive data-led decision making through clear analysis
- Deliver insightful variance analysis, commentary, and performance tracking; own monthly reporting packs and work cross-functionally to drive improvements
- Champion inventory optimisation and support stocktake processes; partner with store operations to ensure commercial strategies translate into front-line success
- Oversee lease schedules, capex modelling, and support key investment decisions with robust financial analysis
- Identify key risks, ensure compliance, and help maintain audit readiness across commercial functions
- CA or CPA qualified with strong commercial instincts and operational awareness
- Experience in a fast-paced retail or trade environment
- Advanced financial literacy, strong modelling skills, and the ability to distill complex insights
- Confident communicator – able to engage, influence, and partner across all levels
- Proficiency in Excel, BI tools, and retail systems (ERP, POS)
