Job Overview

The role of Quarry Manager is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all day-to-day quarry operations.

This critical leadership role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Quarry Manager will lead a team of operational and maintenance personnel to deliver production targets, manage resources, and continuously improve site performance.

This includes managing budgets, controlling costs, ensuring plant and equipment availability, and fostering a safety-first culture across the site.

The Quarry Manager will also engage with stakeholders, including responding to community concerns and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and long-term planning of the quarry site.
  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team including supervisors, operators, and maintenance crews.
  • Ensure compliance with all WHS and environmental legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and deliver production plans, monitor outputs, and manage resources efficiently.
  • Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on operational KPIs including production cost, plant availability, downtime, and team performance.
  • Liaise with local authorities, manage permits and licenses, and maintain positive community relations.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Surface Operations Management (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience managing quarry or mining operations, including drilling and blasting.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large, diverse teams in a hands-on environment.
  • Sound understanding of heavy mobile plant and fixed plant equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and drive profitability.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
