
Native Title Compensation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Compensation Specialist. This role involves leading and driving Native Title compensation applications for various First Nation people across Australia.
The successful candidate will be engaged in ongoing Native Title compensation applications, mining disputes, and broader advice to First Nation organisations. They will also work with new clients to establish relationships and contribute to the preparation and conduct of existing matters in collaboration with other team members.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and highly regarded team, providing exceptional service to clients and demonstrating a high level of cultural competence dealing with First Nations clients.
Key Responsibilities- Leading and driving Native Title compensation applications
- Contributing to the preparation and conduct of existing matters
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
- Conducting litigation in appropriate matters
- Maintaining and building new client relationships
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in law and a current Practicing Certificate
- More than 4 years post admission experience working in Native Title and/or working for First Nations clients
- Excellent technical legal and analytical skills
- Exceptional influence and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management
- Ability to listen, exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously
