Role Overview

The AOD Counsellor delivers drug and alcohol services to individuals in detention, incorporating assessment, case management, referral services, and therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide drug and alcohol services through assessment, case management, referral services, and therapeutic interventions to individuals in detention.
  • Deliver individual drug and alcohol related counselling sessions.
  • Facilitate SMART recovery group sessions on various topics.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide comprehensive drug and alcohol services.

Requirements:

  • Hold full working rights in Australia.
  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in fields such as counselling, social welfare, education, or social sciences.
  • Have proven clinical experience in drug and alcohol treatment, including assessment and counselling services for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
  • Be able to coordinate and manage counselling services for individuals with co-morbid substance use disorders and mental health issues.
  • Hold accreditation as a SMART Recovery facilitator or be willing to obtain it.
  • Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid Certificate.
