Job Title: Payroll Specialist

At Torrens University Australia, we're seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll function, you'll play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experience to our payroll customers by providing timely and accurate fortnightly and monthly payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process end-to-end fortnightly and monthly pay runs with support from the Senior Payroll Specialist.
  • Ensure pay runs are accurate by performing self-checks via audit reports and payroll reports.
  • Calculate and process ad-hoc payments, including terminations, bonuses/commissions, and other additions/deductions.
  • Process manual adjustments for back payments, including salary changes, higher duties, secondments, and other changes to employee payroll records.
  • Assist and train employees and managers on ESS Timecard queries, being the first point of contact and escalating to the Senior Payroll Specialist where necessary.
  • Respond to payroll queries and ad-hoc payroll requests from internal and external customers.
  • Prepare EOM HR reporting, including New Starters, terminated employees, total headcount, and annual leave balances.
  • Assist the Senior Payroll Specialist with financial and legislative reporting, such as Superannuation, Payroll Tax, payroll/costing reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of previous payroll experience.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Professional suite and Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with large payroll systems and accurate data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.
  • Discretion and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a go-getter attitude.
