We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as the Head of Biodiversity and Conservation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of innovative projects focused on ocean biodiversity and habitat conservation. This role involves driving strategic outcomes, managing high-impact projects, fostering key partnerships, and championing science-led, policy-informed approaches to marine conservation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of all biodiversity and habitat initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing team to achieve project milestones and organisational impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partners, government agencies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Policymaking Influence: Represent our organisation at all levels internally and externally at events and conferences, both global and national.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned conservation professional to drive meaningful change in ocean biodiversity and habitat conservation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (PhD preferred) in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years' experience working at the nexus of science, governance, policy, and impact.
  • Deep knowledge of conservation science, marine ecosystems, and environmental policy frameworks.
  • A strong reputation and established networks across policy, eNGO, academic, and government sectors in ocean conservation.
  • Proven experience in managing complex conservation projects, including engagement with communities and governments.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate findings into policy and practical impact.
