Wildlife Veterinarian Position

The position of Wildlife Veterinarian at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional to make a difference in the lives of native Australian wildlife.

As a Wildlife Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife. This includes conducting thorough assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with our dedicated team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, a strong knowledge of animal behavior and welfare, and a passion for working with wildlife. You will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will also be required to maintain accurate records, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to wildlife care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing veterinary care to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife

Requirements:

  • Registered Veterinarian with a degree in Veterinary Science registrable in Queensland
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in private practice or a similar setting
  • Strong knowledge of animal behavior, welfare, and conservation medicine
  • Excellent clinical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
