About the Role:
\We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team.
\As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of animals in our care, including dogs, cats, and small pets.
\Key Responsibilities:

- Maintaining and cleaning of animal housing to the highest standard\
- Providing a high standard of animal care, including administering routine veterinary medications and treatments\
- Providing positive-based enrichment and behaviour management programs for animals\
- Impounding and reuniting lost animals with owners\
- Assisting customers with pet meet and greets and adoptions\
- High-level accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using our digital system\
- Exceptional customer service to all visitors to the Rehoming Centre\
- Working effectively as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives\
- Maintaining accurate records and reports related to animal care and adoption
Requirements:
\- \
- Certificate III in Animal Studies or equivalent qualification\
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environment\
- Previous animal industry experience in a similar capacity with dogs and cats\
- National Police Clearance Certificate\
- Experience using digital management software and inputting data\
- Open driver's license
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have:

- Excellent customer service skills\
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team\
- Experience working with dogs, cats, and livestock\
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability with animal quarantine and disease management\
- Confident dog and cat handling skills, able to read body language and communicate animal behaviour\
- Computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office, email, and data management systems\
- Ability to work a 7-day roster – which covers weekends and public holidays, with a 5 pm finish on some shifts
