About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team.

\

As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of animals in our care, including dogs, cats, and small pets.

\

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and cleaning of animal housing to the highest standard\
  • Providing a high standard of animal care, including administering routine veterinary medications and treatments\
  • Providing positive-based enrichment and behaviour management programs for animals\
  • Impounding and reuniting lost animals with owners\
  • Assisting customers with pet meet and greets and adoptions\
  • High-level accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using our digital system\
  • Exceptional customer service to all visitors to the Rehoming Centre\
  • Working effectively as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives\
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports related to animal care and adoption
\

Requirements:

\
  • \
  • Certificate III in Animal Studies or equivalent qualification\
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environment\
  • Previous animal industry experience in a similar capacity with dogs and cats\
  • National Police Clearance Certificate\
  • Experience using digital management software and inputting data\
  • Open driver's license
\

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have:

  • \
  • Excellent customer service skills\
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team\
  • Experience working with dogs, cats, and livestock\
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability with animal quarantine and disease management\
  • Confident dog and cat handling skills, able to read body language and communicate animal behaviour\
  • Computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office, email, and data management systems\
  • Ability to work a 7-day roster – which covers weekends and public holidays, with a 5 pm finish on some shifts
