Senior Executive Service Band 1 – Assistant Director-General, SSN Construction Commercial Lead

The Australian Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to fill the position of Assistant Director-General, SSN Construction Commercial. This is a key role within the Australian Government, responsible for leading the development of commercial and contracting arrangements to enable the design and construction of the SSN-AUKUS class and associated enabling projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and build a team of qualified and experienced professionals to manage and advise on the procurement aspects of the SSN-AUKUS acquisition program.
- Employ a mixture of procurement methods, including Defence ASDEFCON style contracting and contracts in commercial form, to deliver the program.
- Establish effective relationships with Australian and international industry partners, as well as AUKUS counterpart Governments.
- Manage strategic risk in partnership with the SSN-AUKUS Program Manager and the Head of Commercial in ASA.
- Provide commercial advice to senior leaders and Government on complex matters.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in developing and managing multiple complex commercial arrangements at scale and a senior level. They will have a strong track record in leading high-performance commercial teams and building productive strategic relationships with Defence and core industry stakeholders.
They will also have experience supporting complex projects with significant schedule and delivery interdependencies, as well as working with or in the defence industry and/or leading commercial arrangements with international stakeholders.
