About the Role

The University of Adelaide is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Manager, Disability Support. This is a key leadership role within the University, responsible for the operational and strategic leadership of Disability Support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational and strategic leadership to the Disability Support team, ensuring the provision of comprehensive, responsive, and effective Disability Support services to all enrolled students.
  • Oversee services for students at risk of discrimination and ensure the University meets its commitments under the Disability Standards for Education Act 2005 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
  • Drive the strategic development and execution of the University's Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
  • Lead a team of Disability Advisors and Senior Disability and Disability Support Officers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies.
  • Collaborate with other University departments to ensure a cohesive and student-centered approach to Disability Support services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Disability Support services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in providing operational management in a Human Services setting, with a focus on access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • A sound knowledge of disability legislation, including its specific relevance to education providers.
  • Experience in service coordination and team leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on service innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of students with disabilities within a tertiary education setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of professional practice expectations related to record keeping and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and administrative skills, with the ability to meet competing and demanding deadlines.
